How about University of Glasgow Business School for Marketing? (2 posts)

    Hey!

    I have a Bachelor degree in Business Management (BBM, Cum Laude) with a double major in Marketing and Corporate Communications. I want to now specialize further in Marketing with my Masters degree. I have offers from a couple of good business schools in the UK, and I am sort of inclined towards the University of Glasgow Business School for MSc Strategic Marketing. I would like suggestions / advice and info. for a Masters in Marketing based on
    - Job prospects
    - Business School ranking and reputation; not only in the UK, but even in the EU and outside Europe
    - Overall student experience

    Does anyone have any experience / review for Glasgow? I know that the University of Glasgow is very well ranked and well known as a university, but how good is the Business School and would it be prestigious to do a Marketing degree from there? On the other hand, I know that Strathclyde is known for its business degrees, but do people outside UK know the name of this university?

    I’ll most likely be moving back to Asia – (Singapore / India), or head to other parts of Europe an year or so after completing my degree in Scotland. I am afraid that most people don’t know Strathclyde outside of Scotland. My only fear is that employers in these other countries (in asia or even N. America) won’t know the value of my degree and may presume that it’s not very well recognized and rated.

    As such, I am looking at the Glasgow degree, but would like comments and suggestions from the rest of you! :) Is it really a good idea to go there, or should I consider other places like Strathclyde / Bath / Leicester / Lancaster?

    You are right, Glasgow is a more famous university but Strathclyde does have the better business school and irs marketing course is particulalrly famous. I think I would choose Strathclyde for that reason but it is a personal choice and friends who have studied at Glasgow University (though not in the b-school) have all loved it.

    Doesn’t the Starthclyde MBA runs its course in Singapore? I think it may and if it does that should help with how well known it is amongst employers there.
